How to watch Livestreams and Videos in HTML5 on Livecoding.tv

HTML5 streaming on mobile and desktop has been part of Livecoding.tv from v2.4 release. With many users still confused on how to enable HTML5 live streaming and video playback, we will go through a simple guide on how to enable HTML5 on Livecoding.tv.

If you already have Adobe Flash disabled, check out HTML5 broadcasting on Livecoding.tv now!

Note: By default, we try to utilize HTML5 for streaming purposes. If your browser has Adobe Flash enabled, then the broadcasts use Adobe Flash instead of HTML5. Disabling Adobe Flash can do the trick, and enable our website to render videos/broadcasts in HTML5.

Let’s move on to enable HTML5 for the four major browsers in the market, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer.

  • I have uninstalled Flash and when I visit livecoding I get only this http://i.imgur.com/ZDKgoyK.png I am using Firefox 49.0.1 What could be wrong?

  • Vasilios Souvatzis

Question: isn’t it possible to use the HTML5 player regardless if the user has Flash enabled?

    • Livecoding.tv

Hey Vasilios, Currently, we are working on making it happen. Until then, you need to disable Flash to enjoy Livecoding in HTML5.

      • Sven Neumann

This is not practical at all, since flash might be required for other tools needed during a stream (such as chat channels and other things), while your flash video player seems to try to use 100% of a core which is terrible for streaming. Just make HTML5 default and use flash as the fallback.
